Sweet Creamy Carrots

Don’t be tempted to use more water in the beginning. You’re really steaming the carrots and want to retain all the nutrients. Some carrots are naturally sweeter than others so taste for sweetness and add extra sugar at the end if needed. - Jenny Jones

Makes: 4 servings

Sweet Creamy Carrots


  • 4 cups sliced carrots - 1/4-inch thick (about 1 pound)
  • 1/3 cup water

  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar


  1. Place carrots in a saucepan with 1/3 cup water and bring to boil.
  2. Cover, reduce heat and cook 8 minutes, stirring once or twice, until most of the water cooks away.
  3. In a small bowl combine cornstarch with the other 1/3 cup of water until smooth and add to carrots. Cook, uncovered, another 2-3 minutes, stirring, until carrots are nicely coated.

    Thank you for asking. I usually add the spices along with the milk. (I added that information to the recipe)
